Sake Rok is a scene of serious construction work at MGM Resorts‘ The Park and project team members KWDG Architecture and Tré Builders are promoting an April debut for the unconventional twist on a sushi restaurant.

Still described as a “theatrical hotspot open for lunch, dinner and a late-night bar/lounge,” Sake Rok is aiming to become more than a restaurant and deliver an evening “part culinary, part performance and completely unexpected.” Expect interactive servers “doubling as entertainers, spontaneously breaking into dance and lip-sync serenades.”

They are also still promising a six-foot man dressed in traditional Geisha attire “will keep the energy and the sake flowing.”

The October 2015 construction budget for the substantial 12,340-square-foot structure was estimated to reach $3.15 million. For that amount of investment, Sake Rock will feature an upper level and a mezzanine inside.

Very early rumors placed the building on the south side of the Monte Carlo resort, but those plans have long changed, as Sake Rok becomes tenant number four in a restaurant row closer to New York New York.

They will join the existing Shake Shack, the future Bruxie, a “gourmet waffle” concept and the indoor/outdoor Beer Garden. When The Park was first announced, a Robert Mondavi Jr. “wine experience” was also part of the dining mix, but that is now confirmed to have been quietly abandoned.
